Gov. Abbott Takes Border Crisis Into His Own Hands, Announces $250 Million “Down Payment” For Texas Border Wall

(Republican Party News) – While the Biden regime continues to ignore the unprecedented crisis on the southern border and Kamala Harris outright refuses to visit, the Governor of Texas is trying to take matters into his own hands.

The southern border states have been left to deal with this crisis on their own while the Biden regime pretends that they’re handling the situation in the most “humane” way. Apparently, it’s “humane” to traffic children from all around South and Central Americas into the US because that’s exactly what’s happening.

The massive influx of illegal aliens, all coming here at Joe Biden’s invitation, are overwhelming states like Arizona and Texas and now local and state leaders are being forced to take action.

In the strongest move yet, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Wednesday that his administration is ready and willing to provide $250 million in state funds as a “down payment” for the completion of the border wall in his state, started by Trump, as The Texas Tribune reports.

While campaigning in 2016, President Trump promised to build the wall along the southern border but only completed 450 miles of it during his administration.

After Biden usurped the White House, however, his regime immediately terminated the national emergency on the border, halted construction on the wall, and returned $2 billion of Department of Defense funds that were intended (as per Congress) for border projects.

“Texas will build a border wall in our state to help secure our border,” Abbott said during a press conference Wednesday.

The Governor, however, was unable to give any specifics on where the wall would be built, how long it would be or how much it would cost in total. He noted that a program manager would need to make those determinations.

Abbott is relying on Texans to step up to the plate and donate money and volunteer their land for the new wall. Given the current state of affairs along the border, it doesn’t seem like Texans will pose too much objection.

“My belief based upon conversations that I’ve already had is that the combination of state land, as well as volunteer land, will yield hundreds of miles to build a border wall in Texas,” he said.

The $250 million will serve as a “down payment” and will come from the state budget.

Trump, who recently accepted an invitation from Abbott to visit the border and is expected to do so on June 30, released a statement slamming the Biden administration for their catastrophic failure along the border.

“The Biden Administration inherited from me the strongest, safest, and most secure border in U.S history and in mere weeks they turned it into the single worst border crisis in U.S history. It’s an unmitigated disaster zone,” Trump said.

Unmitigated disaster zone is right. Abbott made the announcement on the “down payment” for a new border wall after there were an alarming 180,000 encounters between illegal aliens and immigration officers recorded last month across the southern border.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data that was the most encounters in 20 years.
