(Republican Party News) – Joe Biden and his regime have been desperately trying to place the blame for record-breaking gas prices and sky-high inflation on anyone and anything besides themselves.
The sad reality is, many Americans actually believe that the Russia-Ukraine war is the reason they’re paying nearly $5 a gallon at the gas pump. They actually believe it’s because of Vladimir Putin that the cost of groceries and household products have shot through the roof.
Still, millions of hurting Americans see right through the regime’s lies, including, apparently, US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.
On Thursday, The Washington Free Beacon shared a video montage of sycophant Democrats pushing the lie that Putin is to blame for our economic woes.
Those in the video included former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, current White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.
However, the video concluded with a damning clip taken from a Senate Banking Committee hearing on Wednesday.
“Would you say that the war in Ukraine is the primary driver of inflation in America?” Republican Sen. Bill Hagerty of Tennessee asked U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.
Powell’s response directly discredited the Democrats’ Putin narrative in one fell swoop.
“No, inflation was high before, certainly before the war in Ukraine broke out,” Powell said.
At least someone is finally being honest.
Powell’s job, as the chair of the Federal Reserve, is to artificially adjust interest rates in a way that will boost the value of the economy.
By artificially adjusting the value of the currency, Powell’s job could be considered “inherently dishonest” as The Western Journal put it, however, there was nothing dishonest about his answer in front of the Senate Banking Committee.
As the Examiner reported, inflation was at 1.4% at the beginning of Biden’s regime in January 2021. By the time Russia moved on Ukraine in February, inflation had already reached 7.9%, the highest it’s been in the last 40 years.
The Biden regime has been plugging the Putin narrative particularly strongly when it comes to rising gas prices but the reality is, gas prices had already sky-rocketed well before Putin made his move.
According to Fox Business, the average price for a gallon of gas in America when Biden took control of the White House on Jan. 20, 2021 was $2.39. By June 4, it reached $4.81, meaning the price had officially doubled under Biden and much of that came before the Russia-Ukraine war.
On Feb. 24, 2022, the day Russia invaded Ukraine, AAA reported gas had reached $3.54 per gallon in the U.S. That means gas had already risen $1.15 under Biden.
Nobody is buying Biden’s excuses, least of all the majority of Americans who are struggling every single day to deal with the exorbitant cost of goods and energy.
Those that have bought into the narrative should have a good listen to what Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell had to say about it. It’s all lies and that certainly won’t bode well for Democrats come November.
