MTG To House Speaker: Resign Or Be Vacated

(Republican Party News) – Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene delivered a powerful ultimatum to Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. She is calling on Johnson to resign his post or be vacated from the speakership, saying, “The American people agree with me…they are outraged.”

According to BizPac Review, “Changing course from the messy leadership contest that ousted former California Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R) in favor of Johnson, members of Congress seeking a speaker unswayed by establishment standards now have a peaceful transition in mind.”

Greene told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on her program, ‘Sunday Morning Futures,’ that she is advancing her call for Johnson to step down from his position, warning that if he refuses to do so, “he will be vacated.”

“You’re getting criticized on the left, on the right, in the media…a lot of people are criticizing you,” Bartiromo stated, going over how Johnson has prioritized sending close to $95 billion in foreign aid, from which $61 billion was sent to Ukraine, rather than being spent on securing the southern border.

With two other members of the GOP, Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie and Paul Gosar, supporting the measure, the Fox News host remarked, “And the reason that they are is because they’re saying that you’re creating drama during this election year. How is this leading to re-electing President Trump? How is this leading to the American people believing that the Republicans can govern? People are saying, ‘Look, she’s creating chaos. She’s making the entire party look like it’s disrupted.’ Your reaction and response to those criticisms?”

“Those that are calling this drama are the very people that are responsible for the drama that the American people are having to live through every single day,” Greene replied to Bartiromo.

“Those on the left, those on the right, the uniparty that’s in control of our government are the ones that have inflicted the American people with nearly $35 trillion in debt, ripped our border wide open, and refused — Speaker Johnson refuses to use his power as speaker of the House to do any type of negotiating to secure the southern border and stop the madness in our country,” she went on to say before adding, “The American people agree with me…they are outraged.”

The remarks came after she expressed her own personal outrage on the steps of the U.S. Capitol last Saturday where she listed all of the ways that Johnson had, in her words, “betrayed America,” which included: reauthorization of FISA, using taxpayer dollars to support foreign nations, no real, substantial action taken on the border crisis, and omnibus bills.

When she was encouraged to share her own alternative, Greene said, “Our plan is this: We have to give the American people a reason to trust us and fight for us. The American people are supporting President Trump to be the next president of the United States because…they’ve seen him in action. He fought against the Democrat agenda. He put America first. They desperately want him to lead this country again because they trust him and they know he will do that.”

“Mike Johnson has betrayed America. He’s betrayed Republican voters,” the Georgia congresswoman explained. “Under his leadership, he’s passed the Democrat agenda, passed the Biden administration’s policies, and fully funded them. We’re going to fight in Congress to do everything we can to stop this type of uniparty leadership. Mike Johnson’s speakership is over. He needs to do the right thing to resign and allow us to move forward in a controlled process. If he doesn’t do so, he will be vacated.”

Not entirely satisfied with the response, Bartiromo asked, “With all due respect, you didn’t give me a plan for the speaker’s role. And again, does this mean you are going to file that motion at some point?”

“It’s coming regardless of what Mike Johnson decides to do, and we have three more Republicans joining us from special elections coming up very soon,” Greene responded, reminding the host that the majority margin could get an additional cushion. “So people need to know, this can happen.”
