MLB Manager Unveils New Policy For National Anthem

(Republican Party News) – Professional sports used to be about the spirit of competition, athletic feats of almost superhuman quality, and a way for people to share common ground while rooting for their teams. It was an escape from everyday reality. Then came the woke crowd who ruined everything. It all started with Colin Kaepernick and his kneeling during the National Anthem, refusing to pay respect to the very nation that afforded him an opportunity to play ball and earn millions doing it.

That attitude soon spread throughout every major sport in the world as Black Lives Matter poisoned the impressionable minds of those who had spent an entire childhood being indoctrinated in progressive public school. This has calmed down a bit right now, though it’s not by any means gone.

One place you for sure won’t see this kind of nonsense is with the San Francisco Giants. Not as long as Bob Melvin, the team’s manager, is calling the shots. According to a report from USA Today, Melvin is now requiring every single individual in the dugout to stand on the field for the National Anthem. That, my friends, is what a patriot looks like.

“It’s a drastic difference from the Gabe Kapler regime. He stopped being on the field for the national anthem in 2022 after the mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, and kneeled in protest for several games in 2020 after the George Floyd killing,” the piece stated.

Melvin then said that the policy has nothing to do with politics.

“Look, we’re a new team here, we got some good players here,’’ Melvin went on to say last Friday, “it’s more about letting the other side know that we’re ready to play. I want guys out here ready to go. There’s a personality to that.”

“It has nothing to do with whatever happened in the past or whatever, it’s just something I embrace,” he added.

You can already hear liberals screaming and crying, demanding Melvin, the big, old meanie, be canceled for forcing his players to honor the country that made them millionaires.

“Melvin says he applied the same rules managing in Oakland and San Diego, too, and occasionally would have to crack down on his team if he noticed he wasn’t getting close to full participation,” USA Today wrote.

“You want your team ready to play and I want the other team to notice it, too,’’ Melvin remarked. “It’s as simple as that. They’re embracing it.”

Sports should exist not only to entertain the masses, but as a means of helping men and women cultivate character. There is common ground for every American regardless of their political ideology, which means baseball and other competitive sports can bridge the divide and help unite people. This is why politics should be left off the field. Let us have one thing that brings us together.
